Hillier's Tree Nursery

We took a trip to Hillier Nurseries which is set on a 500 acre site and has 650,000 trees in production at any one time.
When we arrived we were taken on a tour of the site, shown how different types of trees were produced, how new species are created and how trees are moved around the site to encourage a a denser root ball. They also showed us how to identify the differences between the London Plane 'Plantanus Hispanica' and the Lime 'Tilia Platyphyllos' and how these trees would be transported either bare root, in a container or root ball.
