The walk takes 30 mins from the Botanic Gardens at Circular Quay to the other side of Sydney Harbour Bridge and Milsons Point. We started climbing a staircase to a walkway that overlooks Circular Quay and Sydney Opera House. We continued walking along to the Rocks, veiwing the old parts of the city. Next we walked across the bridge parallel to the cars and double decker trains, with veiws along the river. Then we descended into Milson Point.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpsxw6JU6y_Ju2ZrRZNQ6h9-WdTEuUNgZ1ldk_I_Nb7SC038G9Lc2u04P4CUQw4vLAdMdoOVVglUR0DKzVxeVCgJcR5DV-BHrXH480AtXtBY-MJgoRwm-HGQKzDK9QErfpbB7vMRjMPXI/s1600/P1070504.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5466205745226786194" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 180px; height: 320px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpsxw6JU6y_Ju2ZrRZNQ6h9-WdTEuUNgZ1ldk_I_Nb7SC038G9Lc2u04P4CUQw4vLAdMdoOVVglUR0DKzVxeVCgJcR5DV-BHrXH480AtXtBY-MJgoRwm-HGQKzDK9QErfpbB7vMRjMPXI/s320/P1070504.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi89dUnafqyo3lnhXXinQXp3k40459hkPR2XLir58oguyiBM9jYVv5atbl0iHnKq3ZFrrc9zKsO39E8N-AvqkuIcHpjAz3ivQJOKGwxlNwZOx7eq4Nx2PZPh_81ZSmoEyR0tY7tDTWpgdQ/s1600/P1070468.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5466205339214027058" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 320px; height: 180px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi89dUnafqyo3lnhXXinQXp3k40459hkPR2XLir58oguyiBM9jYVv5atbl0iHnKq3ZFrrc9zKsO39E8N-AvqkuIcHpjAz3ivQJOKGwxlNwZOx7eq4Nx2PZPh_81ZSmoEyR0tY7tDTWpgdQ/s320/P1070468.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-yyBrQMXIowJ3gtVNjVj9M4-L0KJop5kJFVb7uoriS8oelIGhu4qWyBvQu2o6iAtRI7fSqYvTxGryAi2Jq1aKH76q3G-Zcz6REdgY7068C6ksPvC6LB36Ma7JdTBYpXB5aZSgifJTGB8/s1600/P1070505.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5466204736590996914" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 320px; height: 180px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-yyBrQMXIowJ3gtVNjVj9M4-L0KJop5kJFVb7uoriS8oelIGhu4qWyBvQu2o6iAtRI7fSqYvTxGryAi2Jq1aKH76q3G-Zcz6REdgY7068C6ksPvC6LB36Ma7JdTBYpXB5aZSgifJTGB8/s320/P1070505.JPG" border="0" /></a>Judyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01001112527412208623noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2825617772843911433.post-25230588985612113672010-04-16T00:19:00.000-07:002010-06-29T12:23:20.770-07:00Bondi to CoogiI was told the best day to go to Bondi was Friday i.e. best tanning potential. So I woke Friday morning to heavy rain clouds ready to burst, with no choice but to go as we were leaving the next day. Bondi, here I come!<br />I arrived on Bondi beach with strong winds and drizzle in the air. The water temp was 21.5 C and air temp 23 C, minus the wind. So instead of tanning, a 2hr cliff walk from Bondi to Coogi beckoned. The walk was really good, there were great views and really interesting cliff erosion creating dramatic coastal formations. I walked through several beach bays, a graveyard, nature reserve and ended in the seaside town of Coogi.<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8HiwrztVF3bRTl7B65m4fWuGFrQj-_naEuao5lHMyRkzxaNnIb1io6b_ItjnojeJXFyLg9IB1ZO3cRCPDQaht0vvLSmVMGuebINKuVsHQErwZh_qfzFQqLFyav4tDC32cVgIE-ZP0kJ4/s1600/P1070473.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5466209948280166674" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; The hike started on the beach and then entered a nature reserve where we saw wild wallabies and stumbled across a bay where there were hundreds of towers of stones. Then the hike began. The Fluted Cape is 272m above sea level, our starting point. The hike had a steep incline, grabbing on to rocks and trees for support on the loose ground and for rests in the 25c heat. The views along the hike were spectacular with sheer drops to the sea below. The view at the top of the Fluted Cape was best of all with the possibility of whale watching. The journey down the cape was much easier and had the reward of lunch when we reached the bottom. We then visited Penguin Rookery on the way back to the ferry.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAJ0PPS0RyI0ZVXafV52MEy9VglOzObHnNc9_JPfxZNw7XQx2XV9o60EZvyxdGG18-6CXRcqdp_2vLsQwrKrh8qVouuM7kjadf9Ror7_t9UpSqukeIUi3pgcja4KNJQG87XPIDPQ7V2CY/s1600/P1020309.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5466226387206743778" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 320px; height: 240px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAJ0PPS0RyI0ZVXafV52MEy9VglOzObHnNc9_JPfxZNw7XQx2XV9o60EZvyxdGG18-6CXRcqdp_2vLsQwrKrh8qVouuM7kjadf9Ror7_t9UpSqukeIUi3pgcja4KNJQG87XPIDPQ7V2CY/s320/P1020309.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBfUZ1APq4ibYs7rYCUfleHTc4dsc1lTtG7ezaDWmlQmGhtMGJlDrwaJNByxVD_Nyv5SDe3SnEDiYYkxWeAQ1kBbxfgR600hmS5cgLMv9BqJHfX6QdMjgS0pLyxtk36n1PtFO5jn-PJyk/s1600/P1020284.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5466224675109710754" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 320px; height: 240px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBfUZ1APq4ibYs7rYCUfleHTc4dsc1lTtG7ezaDWmlQmGhtMGJlDrwaJNByxVD_Nyv5SDe3SnEDiYYkxWeAQ1kBbxfgR600hmS5cgLMv9BqJHfX6QdMjgS0pLyxtk36n1PtFO5jn-PJyk/s320/P1020284.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3jthlFrgpBLX5ofmbqf6HVSH-MgmPbwi3BqkDz_oFMh1KZRR_la9k6JkbD7Ots8Biu09gUEvx7XcUJ2THjg5EzxuvmUo-uWIiO_GyUI-rsN9z5n8N-MRfW9OvPEnx60w6GqvqjXlTZW4/s1600/P1020302.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5466220792348239522" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 320px; height: 180px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3jthlFrgpBLX5ofmbqf6HVSH-MgmPbwi3BqkDz_oFMh1KZRR_la9k6JkbD7Ots8Biu09gUEvx7XcUJ2THjg5EzxuvmUo-uWIiO_GyUI-rsN9z5n8N-MRfW9OvPEnx60w6GqvqjXlTZW4/s320/P1020302.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYlEQKiUetmjWFH1PC7kNq34_44CszZee6deQXN4TbRFFFpG7440QTDJwjSwGfqUb9PkZWqPDbU3ZKTu23deqFGPLiuF0jcAJaDOnLOyy4q_uCIz2LHj7qJj5pN03RFHMC72dLzqzhQOo/s1600/P1020310.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5466219905881796802" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 320px; height: 240px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYlEQKiUetmjWFH1PC7kNq34_44CszZee6deQXN4TbRFFFpG7440QTDJwjSwGfqUb9PkZWqPDbU3ZKTu23deqFGPLiuF0jcAJaDOnLOyy4q_uCIz2LHj7qJj5pN03RFHMC72dLzqzhQOo/s320/P1020310.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaXAcVNtP2YgbAVzpldDNBDF5boR-R5hnhl-ugFgWJpDodTbFzGZHtuhG0LKXnXRtbePBmJnwY3rs93kPj_GhB-qZhKlzdNKrS8IW64UAq5lYdKmYq2n81sS1L5Zf7mYtVv-UruSx8eWE/s1600/P1020324.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5466218497515511794" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 320px; height: 240px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaXAcVNtP2YgbAVzpldDNBDF5boR-R5hnhl-ugFgWJpDodTbFzGZHtuhG0LKXnXRtbePBmJnwY3rs93kPj_GhB-qZhKlzdNKrS8IW64UAq5lYdKmYq2n81sS1L5Zf7mYtVv-UruSx8eWE/s320/P1020324.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /></div></div></div>Judyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01001112527412208623noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2825617772843911433.post-13264071364943578952010-04-04T01:03:00.000-07:002010-06-29T12:32:26.696-07:00Tas: Snug FallsSnug Falls was the goal at the end of a walk down a fern lined gully that lead to a waterfall. The walk took you through a forest, climbing under fallen trees that cover the narrow path. When we arrived at the waterfall it was very dramatic with angular rocks cutting the waters edge and a fallen tree trapped between the waterfall and the rocks in the pool. Following the stream from the waterfall there were plateaus of rocks and boulders to jump upon and go deeper into the forest.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVSUv3DY2DbNGazkGG96TE6KfQPAeJLbiAaCSPtpA2E8dw9OXSWalDcQTVA4Eix9fJ8jrHBCw9QatzatXhAgFgj698scqx37PAv7jWuvqzNSzfYw2sCpN_lBZp34P6C_nMejH8gBQWyAA/s1600/P1020214.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5466229390092938082" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 240px; height: 320px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVSUv3DY2DbNGazkGG96TE6KfQPAeJLbiAaCSPtpA2E8dw9OXSWalDcQTVA4Eix9fJ8jrHBCw9QatzatXhAgFgj698scqx37PAv7jWuvqzNSzfYw2sCpN_lBZp34P6C_nMejH8gBQWyAA/s320/P1020214.JPG" border="0" /></a>Judyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01001112527412208623noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2825617772843911433.post-83134632159664868112010-04-01T01:08:00.000-07:002010-06-29T12:34:53.475-07:00Sydney and TasmaniaOur holiday to Australia consisted of 9 nights in Sydney and 10 nights in Tasmania.<br />Most of our time in Sydney was spent in the Botanical Gardens, Circular Quay and Darling Harbour.<br />Whilst in Tasmania we stayed with family. We did a few odd jobs on their flower farm; picking flowers, weeding, wood chopping and getting plants ready for next season.<br />Then a couple of days before we where due to leave the volcano in Iceland started errupting sending ash into the sky which closed UK air space, leaving us in Australia until the 5th May giving us a six week holiday.<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5466204063870917426" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 320px; height: 180px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFc2r0KXOYsX5IzVaQdPcZ2PgEggdoQOpocr6EQwA4GckWbHQpiABn5PpZBZJmH9TxJ4mWsLf6cpFluc8su92wnxlqAhIACHTZjD-pgoTwzzgTAHtoaByxObX6HKfQ1iAkYcsrepQesH8/s320/P1070448.JPG" border="0" /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj547alfuY4X50hyD2jBy39mqBxpo_CTBTwzu0YCbVSWzx5tnXKLeKKTLrlGN84PtOkXTaQunTcdiqwfsgQL49pNr5GkPRtjKtMI3IeJikcKl1L9VLWuP_devWVPZG9FtRdUcUV7gUagG0/s1600/P1020360.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5466216414014478706" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 320px; height: 240px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj547alfuY4X50hyD2jBy39mqBxpo_CTBTwzu0YCbVSWzx5tnXKLeKKTLrlGN84PtOkXTaQunTcdiqwfsgQL49pNr5GkPRtjKtMI3IeJikcKl1L9VLWuP_devWVPZG9FtRdUcUV7gUagG0/s320/P1020360.JPG" border="0" /></a>Judyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01001112527412208623noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2825617772843911433.post-91211829429007429342010-02-13T09:37:00.000-08:002010-02-14T10:56:46.358-08:00Listening PostsListening Post by Mark Hansen and Ben Rubin ' A MONUMENT TO THE PRESENT:THE SOUND OF 100,000 PEOPLE CHATTING' <br />The display has 200 small electronic screens that display moving words at different speeds that connect the computer-synthesised sounds coming out of the speakers. As you walk around the exhib it's always changing with interactive works of art where you paint a canvas, blow the seeds off a dandelion head with a hairdryer, other works were being constantly updated with live footage i.e. Tree by Simon Heijdens. The works in the exhibition where split into three categories;<br />CODE: exploring algorithms and the artistic potential of computational systems<br />INTERACTIVITY: relationships between the work and the viewer<br />NETWORK: sing networks for production, interrogation and dissemination<div><br />www.soundcities.com<br /><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dwgaMhBcOYu43m3MtHuvrWLO1nrLEULXYiTYTU1i9yrjrGxd5CuD9mgBHTnTnXstswXmlV6I53FRjkyK9W7Xw' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dw5beWtr7ciXINdTf-_5AuiqtaaEbv2j3JUuBUevok4yebuudiFx97y3HtuPyBOAWH2kSZ6ODiTuqTOVDryKQ' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe><br /></div>Judyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01001112527412208623noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2825617772843911433.post-86998275060913075032010-01-28T08:44:00.000-08:002010-06-29T12:38:52.973-07:00Design Real, Serpentine ExhibitionThe Serpentine Exhibition, 'Design Real' was a presentation of ground breaking design. All the designs in the exhibition are mass produced and used in everyday life. Konstantin Grcic the curator of the exhibition says 'good design admits to the deeper insight that beyond performing a purpose in a good way, the purpose itself has to be good. All 43 items in the exhibition fulfil this idea in their own way. The relevance a product has to our life lies not only in its use, but also in how far we identify with it. A good product becomes part of our culture.'<br />What was really good about the exhibition was that fact that you recognised some of the objects and could buy them, also there was a central database where you could look into each design in depth and explore how they where created.<br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXrzfCpT9l8Iw_IWjZtJMs3o5sFaBYUrsk9w0SSccsBzjljbpLgJYL2xt_pSJmHb26TDcFjiL3cpJSZ9xmyaqVt1qPva2Ds4YrDvNep05D-mrYZ0kJjPXAEXQLaWa33bKXTVoQ-8IRIKk/s1600-h/design+real.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5432947795213586178" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 256px; height: 320px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXrzfCpT9l8Iw_IWjZtJMs3o5sFaBYUrsk9w0SSccsBzjljbpLgJYL2xt_pSJmHb26TDcFjiL3cpJSZ9xmyaqVt1qPva2Ds4YrDvNep05D-mrYZ0kJjPXAEXQLaWa33bKXTVoQ-8IRIKk/s320/design+real.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div></div><br /><div><a href="http://www.serpentinegallery.org/exhibitions/">http://www.serpentinegallery.org/exhibitions/</a></div><br /><div><a href="http://www.design-real.com/">http://www.design-real.com/</a></div></div>Judyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01001112527412208623noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2825617772843911433.post-5769288030660339682010-01-27T08:07:00.000-08:002010-06-29T12:39:49.112-07:00Edible Estates: Brookwood EstateTate Modern commissioned Fritz Haeg to create an Edible Estate in London as part of the Global Cities Exhibition in 2007. Growing Communities is an organisation run by local people. The idea was to enable people in the city to obtain their food directly from a sustainably run farm close to London, but this has evolved with increased interest in growing organic vegetables in the city. Now Growing Communities is always looking for new land to set up more community gardens and Castle Climbing Centre is one of them.<br />When we arrived we were set to work digging up the compacted ground, getting it ready for future use. We were there for hours but it was great fun getting involved in a worthwhile scheme, and surprisingly it didn't seem like hard work.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDX5EdmAzDFEPYVIDRTJXqCOLYSv6vBeyznzUPvo9h0gLqiioxkPIWFHHXBBPCmGPhrF2_RQC4ccy9a0P6IncosGzLFmJXF0WOLl6LTdllecWKxgGmVT6yrxZJRWBfsOyocEfX_pv1vGg/s1600-h/P1070112.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5438155503571403730" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 320px; height: 180px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDX5EdmAzDFEPYVIDRTJXqCOLYSv6vBeyznzUPvo9h0gLqiioxkPIWFHHXBBPCmGPhrF2_RQC4ccy9a0P6IncosGzLFmJXF0WOLl6LTdllecWKxgGmVT6yrxZJRWBfsOyocEfX_pv1vGg/s320/P1070112.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHkC9t3EGcG2x4BmJhXq7_w37OFV0fFZbZpATQdLBYdCSrkZN8gLHQrUqZVee4M6yyTEL9CtHE0UYhv7U5-hgkvFh_Yp38U2LnlRURcoNUU_SwgNG9LF9aXWmo58PkzJRKZCe2opZ0Hbs/s1600-h/P1070113.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5438155887882528834" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 320px; height: 180px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHkC9t3EGcG2x4BmJhXq7_w37OFV0fFZbZpATQdLBYdCSrkZN8gLHQrUqZVee4M6yyTEL9CtHE0UYhv7U5-hgkvFh_Yp38U2LnlRURcoNUU_SwgNG9LF9aXWmo58PkzJRKZCe2opZ0Hbs/s320/P1070113.JPG" border="0" /></a>Judyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01001112527412208623noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2825617772843911433.post-36511483419232634282010-01-25T08:12:00.000-08:002010-06-29T12:53:09.758-07:00Bonnington SquareFor focus week I wanted to research deeper into my dissertation. My main aim was to visit my case studies; Bonnington Square, an Edible Estate in Southwark and to try and set up interviews.<br />Bonnington Square was the first case study I visited. I went to have a look at the secret community garden and central square, but what I found more interesting and more in keeping with my dissertation was how the residents of Bonnington Square have taken over their street using plants. As I was approaching Bonnington Square from South Lambeth Road, I started to notice different types of plants instead of those normally found at the base of trees. As I entered Bonnington Square I saw planting overflowing onto the paths and up telephone poles, and bins were taken over by bay trees and rosemary. This creates a community feel, softens the architecture and shows that people care about where they live and that they want to create a sanctuary in the centre of London. Bonnington Square showed me the benefits of creating your own environment; a happy community, taking pride in where they live.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIp9EwCR0iVCH303tdkl7iTHgL_-phmjJ_kkRTE5hesG8BoMtxaiv0iqk1Zt8LSISCfUX3pKIskD8BN51N-Eyo8GY3efoMAr39DWU8DB4pXoJiZ_nqisH0l4mDdaJzbJEkVHzV6-zNMHI/s1600-h/P1070024.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5432941062603490450" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 240px; height: 320px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIp9EwCR0iVCH303tdkl7iTHgL_-phmjJ_kkRTE5hesG8BoMtxaiv0iqk1Zt8LSISCfUX3pKIskD8BN51N-Eyo8GY3efoMAr39DWU8DB4pXoJiZ_nqisH0l4mDdaJzbJEkVHzV6-zNMHI/s320/P1070024.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9cbBopmmQEVvx__d34dnYUKMA6NvLlaG0tOyEfrDvG8dSA2NSzf44hSfB9ix4-2sIgZb-l3x2-ZDqxAnPa4-f_qaNNaMqbCLl8VFXSr8WmrNV246_sDcZluW-ordum0fk-YDLqKk7UIA/s1600-h/P1070111.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5432940498543702450" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 180px; height: 320px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9cbBopmmQEVvx__d34dnYUKMA6NvLlaG0tOyEfrDvG8dSA2NSzf44hSfB9ix4-2sIgZb-l3x2-ZDqxAnPa4-f_qaNNaMqbCLl8VFXSr8WmrNV246_sDcZluW-ordum0fk-YDLqKk7UIA/s320/P1070111.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAaub2qtylu6INiBUlu-GSC0WrR8jxzlt3kxWtQb52tjMBlKDCCCgQ4xcJIkHCm8bIQsdEwg256PwkuGsfkty1sZ1kWAgt7xCeCo4aNVbS1b8az-HpYcF5X-6cHSRw-l-pf1xNOb8rBro/s1600-h/P1070064.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5432939890587658098" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 320px; height: 180px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAaub2qtylu6INiBUlu-GSC0WrR8jxzlt3kxWtQb52tjMBlKDCCCgQ4xcJIkHCm8bIQsdEwg256PwkuGsfkty1sZ1kWAgt7xCeCo4aNVbS1b8az-HpYcF5X-6cHSRw-l-pf1xNOb8rBro/s320/P1070064.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6vVaXiNSRCacKGxogV1T9NFAGcceSkROkdW4k98ca95i2rxzBHNZpQwVJCoUeHjoZ0UbSonbcVFlGU2LVLKLJDNcvYJHMdBcAEmnLJ2SpeilcaFGd9yNZPp0fCcygcc7ly_ITLtMx63o/s1600-h/P1070070.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5432939522085141314" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 320px; height: 240px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6vVaXiNSRCacKGxogV1T9NFAGcceSkROkdW4k98ca95i2rxzBHNZpQwVJCoUeHjoZ0UbSonbcVFlGU2LVLKLJDNcvYJHMdBcAEmnLJ2SpeilcaFGd9yNZPp0fCcygcc7ly_ITLtMx63o/s320/P1070070.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgK761pMx7mPnsDd3lzZHPb0QxIbNhjLY8YGs54Go5sJiEXgBMZlDsucFA0WZ8YcNjuEXhcweClPkjLs8SwlAKUPEP-FQBNP3vrDlPSJKT5jZwG3LBpEILYQGcC-EBU6dn7GJWjxvX4MIg/s1600-h/P1070083.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5432939010879571890" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 320px; height: 180px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgK761pMx7mPnsDd3lzZHPb0QxIbNhjLY8YGs54Go5sJiEXgBMZlDsucFA0WZ8YcNjuEXhcweClPkjLs8SwlAKUPEP-FQBNP3vrDlPSJKT5jZwG3LBpEILYQGcC-EBU6dn7GJWjxvX4MIg/s320/P1070083.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhE98rBYr6Ss7HALRJ-I8Ux-TiqbkZhFsmw3VIvBv1NxmJU3NfsYVXJciRALCaNA3iQvTDle9bOaiDdyajFmLlNx87xvGTqcnQWvjFHTLbbNHY_xfRu7fj-1kpAfvJsn0GZRnLcLHTchyphenhyphenI/s1600-h/P1070093.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5432938766883013666" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 320px; height: 240px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhE98rBYr6Ss7HALRJ-I8Ux-TiqbkZhFsmw3VIvBv1NxmJU3NfsYVXJciRALCaNA3iQvTDle9bOaiDdyajFmLlNx87xvGTqcnQWvjFHTLbbNHY_xfRu7fj-1kpAfvJsn0GZRnLcLHTchyphenhyphenI/s320/P1070093.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div></div></div></div></div></div></div>Judyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01001112527412208623noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2825617772843911433.post-91404223658570428412010-01-20T08:36:00.000-08:002010-01-31T12:57:59.956-08:00NLA Breakfast TalkThe NLA Breakfast Talk was on 'London's Natural Signatures'. The talk was about ways in which Londoners can be re-connected with hidden green spaces and landscapes in the city. Twenty two different landscape have been selected for urban regeneration/renewal. Each space needs to be in keeping with London's character and relate it's specific area.<br />The lecture was really interesting and is a good idea to start to re-connect London's green spaces back to the city rather than the city to shadow it's green spaces.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDST7UVdl3wAzcX7AOxVq6W3264kZOdWwHZYCFr-m942lbU7wJIveSjcWwWPzYHkC__j-U3GYEfx3YbMHoj-3EbPGiba7HMKikp-5Swthmngcmw95aXsWnDV5Xby0QB1UmyDZG9SeOv88/s1600-h/london+nature.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5432945468807862146" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 186px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDST7UVdl3wAzcX7AOxVq6W3264kZOdWwHZYCFr-m942lbU7wJIveSjcWwWPzYHkC__j-U3GYEfx3YbMHoj-3EbPGiba7HMKikp-5Swthmngcmw95aXsWnDV5Xby0QB1UmyDZG9SeOv88/s320/london+nature.jpg" border="0" /></a> <a href="http://www.newlondonarchitecture.org/event.php?id=71&name=london_s_natural_signatures">http://www.newlondonarchitecture.org/event.php?id=71&name=london_s_natural_signatures</a>Judyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01001112527412208623noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2825617772843911433.post-72941956752057357912010-01-20T08:30:00.000-08:002010-06-29T12:58:23.942-07:00Site TourOn the 13th Jan we went on a site tour with Richard Peckam. He took us around his site, Chumieigh Gardens part of Burgess park. It was really interesting seeing a site near completion rather than at the early stages. It highlighted how you can create a design on paper, but when the design goes on site compromises have to be made due to unforseen problems.<br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoiokZByKTX_b-83TRUX2b3paa63TeM5iLUMiTvSsEKk7wHweIPwildzr8kVKhQychAArBVft3pOugY85Kpj7c1Z5E7pgAboCwgiAUbx5SMx7Mf97c3VkMtypNTVQswIGO2GR2ZcWQBQQ/s1600-h/P1060954.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5432943828322472162" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 320px; height: 240px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoiokZByKTX_b-83TRUX2b3paa63TeM5iLUMiTvSsEKk7wHweIPwildzr8kVKhQychAArBVft3pOugY85Kpj7c1Z5E7pgAboCwgiAUbx5SMx7Mf97c3VkMtypNTVQswIGO2GR2ZcWQBQQ/s320/P1060954.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7Q9tGcScyoUIeBj6Y7xH2VdFCi8b9nlatfObEkqFpdVld5WZfnKrdvPaaPpEFF6OEK_izEDDHHgTkHR1eMPuoV0mzFw02GA-iVkaUCCsfwGK-ctHyYShy4Wv4esWuyz8SLiP-bm8Tx0s/s1600-h/P1060955.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5432943424547385106" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 320px; height: 240px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7Q9tGcScyoUIeBj6Y7xH2VdFCi8b9nlatfObEkqFpdVld5WZfnKrdvPaaPpEFF6OEK_izEDDHHgTkHR1eMPuoV0mzFw02GA-iVkaUCCsfwGK-ctHyYShy4Wv4esWuyz8SLiP-bm8Tx0s/s320/P1060955.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><div></div></div></div>Judyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01001112527412208623noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2825617772843911433.post-87467223342512630392010-01-20T08:27:00.000-08:002010-06-29T13:01:44.314-07:00Two Weeks of LecturesWhen we got back from our Christmas holidays, we started with two weeks of lectures from various different companies and fields of practice. We had representatives from Gustafson Porter, Hilliers Nusery, Whitelaw Turkington, Arup and Capita Lovejoy, as well as lecturers Rhys Williams and Christoph Lueder. Some of the lectures were really good as they gave us an insight into design and explored different ideas that opened your mind, made you aware of the importance of the little details and really made you think about how you would detail in the future. I think the best lectures were by Rhys Williams and Christoph Lueder because they weren't restricted to having to discuss the companies work, but looked at different companies and their different focuses i.e experimentation. This meant that I started to think about what would be important to me when looking for jobs.Judyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01001112527412208623noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2825617772843911433.post-3007311669725502342009-12-04T14:56:00.001-08:002010-06-29T13:04:02.747-07:00Tate Modern: John BaldessariJohn Baldessari:Pure Beauty exhibition was really good, different to Pop Life, but his work had traces of pop art in it i.e. bold colours highlighting certain areas, arms, faces. What I really liked about his work was how he placed different photos together linking them by connecting a frame, and these two very separate pictures became one, with a very interesting affect like glimpsing into two worlds connected by an object. I also loved the way he made some of his images continuous i.e. 'Alignment series: Palm Tree with Girl 1975'.<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmD28hlxvK1iILMBFOhzFMgFsvrTO-aIaAeqxxj8hij5N8lRtaKsRojIrJUmtjJSD4o-B0AjgYy5Ba2URadlMIGx-Xx0uaVFBZgleTBM7Tgto2EJPus2o1f8YTYMrCnW4gYKVzxIX_Dgo/s1600-h/arss_john_baldessari_09_h%5B1%5D.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5413004246211082706" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 320px; height: 316px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmD28hlxvK1iILMBFOhzFMgFsvrTO-aIaAeqxxj8hij5N8lRtaKsRojIrJUmtjJSD4o-B0AjgYy5Ba2URadlMIGx-Xx0uaVFBZgleTBM7Tgto2EJPus2o1f8YTYMrCnW4gYKVzxIX_Dgo/s320/arss_john_baldessari_09_h%5B1%5D.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbnNzBBzoDMBq8chzv7ghriBDy48CEmjkjjRQIZE-TADtghcZW9mgN2mUP-eeZKVNhWualfCYkFb3cgEwqddaFxzitP6xfibCyzUpMFSTlw1-iOtsSH3IEEfiT8pk5uW0vR-2tmTf0G5Y/s1600-h/bloodysundae_500%5B1%5D.png"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5413004366000484786" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 232px; height: 320px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbnNzBBzoDMBq8chzv7ghriBDy48CEmjkjjRQIZE-TADtghcZW9mgN2mUP-eeZKVNhWualfCYkFb3cgEwqddaFxzitP6xfibCyzUpMFSTlw1-iOtsSH3IEEfiT8pk5uW0vR-2tmTf0G5Y/s320/bloodysundae_500%5B1%5D.png" border="0" /></a>Judyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01001112527412208623noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2825617772843911433.post-74057775035272261092009-12-04T14:56:00.000-08:002010-06-29T13:05:17.277-07:00Tate Modern - Pop Life<div align="left">'Pop Life: Art in a material world' was a really good exhibition. We went on a Trixi tour around the Gothic Port. We saw the Cathedral, Placa del Rei, Santa Mdel Pi, Port Vell and Barceloneta. The tour was really good as we explored areas that we had just walked by before, and it was really interesting seeing areas that you wouldn't normally see as a tourist. The tour had a personal touch as the best cake shop and brilliant bars were pointed out. We started by walking down the Passeig de Gracia to La Pedrera. We went round the exhibition of Gaudi's work which explained the theory behind his work and objects that influenced him i.e. chains and natural object. Took a tour around one of his apartment and then headed to the terrace with Gaudi's warriors. Gaudi used the undulating balustrades to connect to the facade of the building, he liked creating 'a harmonic solution between the rhythms of the facade and the finishings of the roof.'<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNb2yJGBcNnE643oQ4J5HZhQG6Gcg9IQsMvZFyTOrs-B09aZsYi_Wpe4bHg7OPGbV7QVghPLhE1xAX4H3nEbpg7mFwXmnL6etfr88CMgCJcUdKAd8IYSzgsAna8OMFmu2yKovY7LOh4ao/s1600-h/292.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5412659351620108162" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 180px; height: 320px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNb2yJGBcNnE643oQ4J5HZhQG6Gcg9IQsMvZFyTOrs-B09aZsYi_Wpe4bHg7OPGbV7QVghPLhE1xAX4H3nEbpg7mFwXmnL6etfr88CMgCJcUdKAd8IYSzgsAna8OMFmu2yKovY7LOh4ao/s320/292.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqBHFMIQEm7dF89ojFXcW1x3VYUWsyEYS5w1nKSIQ-ZPAHERTSaIh8N05Dz0Fed0cmGNSOL7Le1K0nV63hjGI2mUPkezrA_8R5j9PgU_ogNWSURrOLRXCagm6T-Htww9pI2DwlRLzGZsI/s1600-h/326.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5412659657768855122" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 320px; height: 180px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqBHFMIQEm7dF89ojFXcW1x3VYUWsyEYS5w1nKSIQ-ZPAHERTSaIh8N05Dz0Fed0cmGNSOL7Le1K0nV63hjGI2mUPkezrA_8R5j9PgU_ogNWSURrOLRXCagm6T-Htww9pI2DwlRLzGZsI/s320/326.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Next was the Sagrada Familia. The Sagrada Familia is amazing in both design and architecture. The detail and thought that goes into Gaudi's designs is unbelievable. We entered via the Fachada de la Pasion or passion facade that represents the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus. Inside the church there's pillar and giant abstract stars (on the ceiling) but whats really interesting is that you can see how they are making the church now, by viewing the stone masons and architects at work. Then we went up the towers to take a closer look at the detailing and checkout the views.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFwvIHvgvir8lOjfWn-1LyvoFHpY9T0llXRS50DwS1NkwpxkGs3rOXGsN7-8Mo1LqXrQnbs2Hj7Y7N8N744ILxAJk0A2nopGTotKlR3qA5aNBNgZYIAojq81NgJqBLk5Pz7WgELLKByMw/s1600-h/345.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5412659909815927458" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 180px; height: 320px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFwvIHvgvir8lOjfWn-1LyvoFHpY9T0llXRS50DwS1NkwpxkGs3rOXGsN7-8Mo1LqXrQnbs2Hj7Y7N8N744ILxAJk0A2nopGTotKlR3qA5aNBNgZYIAojq81NgJqBLk5Pz7WgELLKByMw/s320/345.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhWpT9UwYVNW7CTfV8em6FDLlhJHe94hh3gvnaibWkGKkp4FSIAZTa5mgyXAvsfmNwDuu4s2KN7a3K3Xn5U33H4tYU_o_8D7crFulhEG9n4Lhve7t1cGw5VKORDG05skLHFfKB9DZWMPQ/s1600-h/350.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5412660073516780898" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 320px; height: 180px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhWpT9UwYVNW7CTfV8em6FDLlhJHe94hh3gvnaibWkGKkp4FSIAZTa5mgyXAvsfmNwDuu4s2KN7a3K3Xn5U33H4tYU_o_8D7crFulhEG9n4Lhve7t1cGw5VKORDG05skLHFfKB9DZWMPQ/s320/350.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLeug8wsC6-OIhZBFWdDG16rylVMeMOhGcZuj1SnPlxAwfV6oJopyOVkq4gbQvd1eI6fucXrIbVxnOgqKTfN8dcG0Vdq1g1aMkcgvTEaD2WE3ZPvNFUWLgt6_B62DCp3PddJBFJN2qCo0/s1600-h/355.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5412660230392375010" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 320px; height: 180px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLeug8wsC6-OIhZBFWdDG16rylVMeMOhGcZuj1SnPlxAwfV6oJopyOVkq4gbQvd1eI6fucXrIbVxnOgqKTfN8dcG0Vdq1g1aMkcgvTEaD2WE3ZPvNFUWLgt6_B62DCp3PddJBFJN2qCo0/s320/355.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdXFGA0GsihwrQfzvbr0y7BZoekoLNCYILh1s1htn6evcHcGxxn_qJiUJNOJ3cJWeZ-7pweYRaV6_s5Z44gpfaF1c0XxceN-KWsRVplkAQ7bMu-ES0WxBiGTMNzf3aGr8UqsfiOg9ldU4/s1600-h/392.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5412660653884803250" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 320px; height: 180px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdXFGA0GsihwrQfzvbr0y7BZoekoLNCYILh1s1htn6evcHcGxxn_qJiUJNOJ3cJWeZ-7pweYRaV6_s5Z44gpfaF1c0XxceN-KWsRVplkAQ7bMu-ES0WxBiGTMNzf3aGr8UqsfiOg9ldU4/s320/392.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br />From there we headed to the Arc de Triomf and then Parc de la Ciutadella and had a wander around looking at the fountain and boating lake.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOykw9dtPuS3G7eZIpsJsqUB7TwzcFhXfQHoIaw5uXPMLYAqjIWDdVK2AqLLbbFW2rBEirdDRGDnAgLadKnwoNSksaVB-uVeul_I3XIsQXACLyH6FJZ7w83nZmK9-FkbSceNu87LEtOWQ/s1600-h/401.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5412660866420869074" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 320px; height: 180px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOykw9dtPuS3G7eZIpsJsqUB7TwzcFhXfQHoIaw5uXPMLYAqjIWDdVK2AqLLbbFW2rBEirdDRGDnAgLadKnwoNSksaVB-uVeul_I3XIsQXACLyH6FJZ7w83nZmK9-FkbSceNu87LEtOWQ/s320/401.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3htzlkyePNjtSuwNJ4X11WUyhC-M3iqs_rJjLxeoui6uso3WZPI5EldEFUomHYeJ2U2zkJMetD_19DHzgQeum2eE8CRvQS4DlHp1z00eGWgIBvCUpNZWpnDybTozfwRu-eEQpbNDlCck/s1600-h/404.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5412661110127009250" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 320px; height: 180px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3htzlkyePNjtSuwNJ4X11WUyhC-M3iqs_rJjLxeoui6uso3WZPI5EldEFUomHYeJ2U2zkJMetD_19DHzgQeum2eE8CRvQS4DlHp1z00eGWgIBvCUpNZWpnDybTozfwRu-eEQpbNDlCck/s320/404.JPG" border="0" /></a>Judyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01001112527412208623noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2825617772843911433.post-89550390857957046442009-12-01T14:14:00.000-08:002010-06-29T13:17:57.476-07:00Barcelona - TuesdayWe started the day by visiting parc Diagonal Mar by EMBT and Edaw with the twisting turning steel drawing you to the central lake. Due to the Olympic games in 1992 there was large investment and development to reconnect Barcelona to the coast, and parc Diagonal Mar was created on one of the last brown field sites in 1996. The park is at the centre of a 212 acre development. Parc Diagonal Mar is split in two by Taulat Street and because it is at the centre of the development that has offices, residential housing and a convention centre, it has to be enjoyable for all ages . There are three playgrounds one for the under 6's, another called the magic mountain and the basketball courts, and the rest of the park is covered by a lake, winding steel, grass levels and seating.<br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTOoq9ouC0-7l64zO-Xlu8T56d5EIejqjiyRVeEaqs7SZFUyou4AlZ2Jz87tLUj1r2e74bBqscbsYxHW810kI738yYWwMhKZTvd4LGBv8GCseFueaS3ej-FqdS38YY1kB__uNuaXKCXc8/s1600-h/226.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5412665041402799362" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 180px; height: 320px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTOoq9ouC0-7l64zO-Xlu8T56d5EIejqjiyRVeEaqs7SZFUyou4AlZ2Jz87tLUj1r2e74bBqscbsYxHW810kI738yYWwMhKZTvd4LGBv8GCseFueaS3ej-FqdS38YY1kB__uNuaXKCXc8/s320/226.JPG" border="0" /></a> International Forums of cultures 2004 took place in Barcelona and that meant that Barcelona had an excuse to regenerate part of the city creating the Forum. The parc Quote 'explores strategies that produce complex landscapes through artificially generated topographies via mediated integration of rigorously modelled spaces'. In reality though the park was disappointing due to the amount of disrepair, and the derelict nature means that the activities that are meant to be encouraged, like skate boarding and running, just can't happen because the slabs creating the paths were cracked and uneven and weeds were growing through the gaps. The planting had been neglected and was running riot. The good area of the site was the connection to the sea by creating areas of quiet water and access to the water. One area that did alarm me was the use of polished marble as people exited the water on the pontoons.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHtMdojiFSAoi1s-BgG8VlCldp5lCYStCdhyphenhyphenIshsKDwbB1CKwy4JNMtPo3a4ybBomnL4sGexX0JMACtvqJJANlPAmuNST1ZFLrfNtTrFhuU_onisu-xv-j-mMPQGQTNtqljq0pLmUbTiw/s1600-h/243.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5412665313360486898" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 320px; height: 180px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHtMdojiFSAoi1s-BgG8VlCldp5lCYStCdhyphenhyphenIshsKDwbB1CKwy4JNMtPo3a4ybBomnL4sGexX0JMACtvqJJANlPAmuNST1ZFLrfNtTrFhuU_onisu-xv-j-mMPQGQTNtqljq0pLmUbTiw/s320/243.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br />The Pavello by Mies Van Der Rohe was exceptional and something I've seen in books but have always wanted to see in really life.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDLM78dmALw2F_hbbvskFW78hy3FN-iab7de_k5ZNvd6XqGP_UqXK78TTI-90QNhCkaC6zQJt4mnfUkaGl9mOf5N8EiGJlIWUt26sqRBZg2TILZ9MA-deNirsSNosJihPwug7MS4PIljo/s1600-h/260.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5412666067596624594" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 320px; height: 180px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDLM78dmALw2F_hbbvskFW78hy3FN-iab7de_k5ZNvd6XqGP_UqXK78TTI-90QNhCkaC6zQJt4mnfUkaGl9mOf5N8EiGJlIWUt26sqRBZg2TILZ9MA-deNirsSNosJihPwug7MS4PIljo/s320/260.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9bAUy_9XytmqrvDVz_QNk5EHTKad1zyENUqGf8Cy8MRc1SZgsOO1zJpok9uUQ7czagW3cIkxNpu1FZP0tJE9R8-L5G0LUWm4lDryFpvLzw14AxaBkL1YPXNTGDSBONmULvfjxuDHohus/s1600-h/268.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5412665916244487378" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 320px; height: 180px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9bAUy_9XytmqrvDVz_QNk5EHTKad1zyENUqGf8Cy8MRc1SZgsOO1zJpok9uUQ7czagW3cIkxNpu1FZP0tJE9R8-L5G0LUWm4lDryFpvLzw14AxaBkL1YPXNTGDSBONmULvfjxuDHohus/s320/268.JPG" border="0" /></a> </p>Judyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01001112527412208623noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2825617772843911433.post-47782943695684610812009-12-01T11:47:00.000-08:002010-06-29T13:20:33.001-07:00Barcelona - MondayWhen we arrived we went exploring mostly for food, but exploring all the same, and came across a famous market for a bite to eat. From there we headed down to Port Vell through Barri Gotic and went to the beach to have some fun and walk along the waterfront. Whilst walking along the waterfront we saw how the city and the sea where connected by extending the natural materials used on to create the waterfront to the city edge and beach - by placing playgrounds, seating and bars on the beach and interesting architecture i.e. the copper fish sculpture by Frank Gehry 'Pez y Esfera' on the the city edge.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhACz-BQciLziOsZMK7S7FzHAXdzamwfe1pZs60Y0xtG572NPwAf_7N9iagBwLhC9vfaukuKMtYnuJdTDQkNI6IgafhsdfEu79Tejtna08GNXNtZ_eOuUJDkezGlFCge2tJqHt1yBLsqu0/s1600-h/150.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5412668821473571170" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 240px; height: 320px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhACz-BQciLziOsZMK7S7FzHAXdzamwfe1pZs60Y0xtG572NPwAf_7N9iagBwLhC9vfaukuKMtYnuJdTDQkNI6IgafhsdfEu79Tejtna08GNXNtZ_eOuUJDkezGlFCge2tJqHt1yBLsqu0/s320/150.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpONKI1SQ5NnNdYJGJxsFLlrOm7Yip61IBHkoF1Yecu0JG_vmxOn8SHmcMGUq3hn_YupJXq7c903ZNCp2B_MESswLIDH9MnL95KzZPZfbEbHg7jo8uaTEOD_bkDGUSCkcDWkPMsEMJ5ak/s1600-h/171.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5412668983380102914" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 320px; height: 180px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpONKI1SQ5NnNdYJGJxsFLlrOm7Yip61IBHkoF1Yecu0JG_vmxOn8SHmcMGUq3hn_YupJXq7c903ZNCp2B_MESswLIDH9MnL95KzZPZfbEbHg7jo8uaTEOD_bkDGUSCkcDWkPMsEMJ5ak/s320/171.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFh8GxCtu6b3ZVvT_P8oGgUpToiKEOxaPnyn1FDIRg3oxFlAiFZUBYWEqrxN8RNRLbNefD49AzVOMx71zCqWM22KL3pCV18RKqKpcB3PUIg2X1ez6iZP1aq-rhcmJH7PxaiF61CVzJGsg/s1600-h/173.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5412670302518111730" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 320px; height: 180px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFh8GxCtu6b3ZVvT_P8oGgUpToiKEOxaPnyn1FDIRg3oxFlAiFZUBYWEqrxN8RNRLbNefD49AzVOMx71zCqWM22KL3pCV18RKqKpcB3PUIg2X1ez6iZP1aq-rhcmJH7PxaiF61CVzJGsg/s320/173.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUbZbZkgn9gr1lyS2-bl8xtrbKjEMcZ2CB1rY8yZGaR_OQe8wRWSffRfFM5geNr8YinbyKZmRGfUQo4lKxN0R1XoGv3EUQc4zacWAVsvl9qUQEX8jLqxuHffb7FtDrcbBJeTBLDosQqzU/s1600-h/179.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5412669325429720914" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 180px; height: 320px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUbZbZkgn9gr1lyS2-bl8xtrbKjEMcZ2CB1rY8yZGaR_OQe8wRWSffRfFM5geNr8YinbyKZmRGfUQo4lKxN0R1XoGv3EUQc4zacWAVsvl9qUQEX8jLqxuHffb7FtDrcbBJeTBLDosQqzU/s320/179.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhS9EljG5cz9yYq-59KeUyWTBhVi0E1eWQdYm9HHrvoy871HAIHNSXTfRw5O2umDGQq3apFJsZrky1lsLHl_mu7lwpoTy4ol0SkH-CqSR7af3dVfzLSBuQdu5A_bL9qWErKXSVsRh347eM/s1600-h/190.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5412669595237809810" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 320px; height: 180px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhS9EljG5cz9yYq-59KeUyWTBhVi0E1eWQdYm9HHrvoy871HAIHNSXTfRw5O2umDGQq3apFJsZrky1lsLHl_mu7lwpoTy4ol0SkH-CqSR7af3dVfzLSBuQdu5A_bL9qWErKXSVsRh347eM/s320/190.JPG" border="0" /></a>Judyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01001112527412208623noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2825617772843911433.post-50980075517506078392009-11-29T14:55:00.000-08:002009-12-08T15:37:46.926-08:00Whitechapel Gallery: Sophie CalleSophie Calle: 'Talking to strangers' exhibition explored the Whitechapel gallery taking over rooms on different floors. Sophie Calle's work reports on encounters and situations that she has set in motion and the exhibition was broken into parts. <br />Part one: situations set in motion was a really interesting incite into how people from different backgrounds and different jobs replied to a brake up email. <br />Part two: reports on encounters, was how people interacted with her on journeys and set up encounters in a phone booth in NY. <br />The exhib. was very different to what I've seen before and it was compelling. Her work drew you in so you read every word from the different answers to the email to her documentation of what happened when she created her enjoy Phone Booth in the Bronx and her journey in a train.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhziyRg_qrluQ25vM3-HmZcp4X2DwfwEGx3GWtZgK_XR-vqEG-eNgcXs-kRJXqf7GYg8yAh45qcVt1X5U-_GU3d63GU6TJNYRHHMbR9bWYQldNpIpM17uEXy30-p7KJBJomDCoAwFmLaKw/s1600-h/aaf0a702b63abc53_sophie-calle-talking-to-strangers%5B1%5D.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 201px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhziyRg_qrluQ25vM3-HmZcp4X2DwfwEGx3GWtZgK_XR-vqEG-eNgcXs-kRJXqf7GYg8yAh45qcVt1X5U-_GU3d63GU6TJNYRHHMbR9bWYQldNpIpM17uEXy30-p7KJBJomDCoAwFmLaKw/s320/aaf0a702b63abc53_sophie-calle-talking-to-strangers%5B1%5D.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5413013629584558114" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1XLYgy1EbxDKv9BtXn4Bx3fd_Nb46tjCPZMhk7C80sAkyrBaufgJXa9Z1U8uThC0oHmo9NAkZ6Q-5BjxA8YSYoKy-gq9rotMlVzFsaGG0wKhD6uyajk83JFdFERDeEL48fLbLZDNCmOY/s1600-h/talking-strangers-images-accompany-fay-nicolsons-review-sophie-calle-picture-2-png%5B1%5D.png"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 219px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1XLYgy1EbxDKv9BtXn4Bx3fd_Nb46tjCPZMhk7C80sAkyrBaufgJXa9Z1U8uThC0oHmo9NAkZ6Q-5BjxA8YSYoKy-gq9rotMlVzFsaGG0wKhD6uyajk83JFdFERDeEL48fLbLZDNCmOY/s320/talking-strangers-images-accompany-fay-nicolsons-review-sophie-calle-picture-2-png%5B1%5D.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5413013567535573250" /></a>Judyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01001112527412208623noreply@blogger.com0
